Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to switchbox.studio!
I’m Deadeye Dave, and I design keycap novelties! I also collect and write about mechanical keyboards & switches; I sometimes post reviews, comparisons, and the occasional thing on instagram.
Feel free to browse around, or check out one of my latest posts:
Here’s some of my most recent novelty design work:

Piperaceae’s SA • A History of Violets: I designed the Violet novelty, inspired by the existing Lotus one included in the set. Available now from Signature Plastics! • Board render by Piperaceae

About Deadeye Dave:
Born and raised in Bristol, Tennessee, Dave learned some stuff in Knoxville and now works in the Nashville area. He’s a little weird, but loves to facilitate. An obsessive perfectionist or lost in the clouds, depending on the moment. One of his eyes is a little funky, and he liked Deadeye Duck from Bucky O’ Hare growing up; hence the name.

A sea of Kiwis
Who am I, anyway? You can find most of my applicable contributions thus-far on the small-but-friendly forum, Keebtalk, under the username Deadeye – you can call me Dave, if you like. I got into the hobby basically by accident around 2015, when I purchased a dome board so bad I had to replace it with something better immediately. Yadda yadda now I build keebs for people and obsess over minute details in switch components.

Inspirational… in its own way.
I used to love messing with frankenswitches to better understand the medium, and am interested in detail-oriented comparisons between commercial options. These days I mostly type on my favorites and design novelties for keycap sets. Sometimes I find out something useful, and share it with the community – this website grew from a desire to consolidate everything I’ve been learning into an accessible collection of articles, tutorials, reviews, comparisons, and ramblings.

There are as many different switches as there are brands of beer – there’s no way I’ll ever be able to sample them all, but I’m having a blast trying anyway.

Dave’s ever-growing and somewhat ridiculous keyswitch collection; stored in mason jars and complete with thematically and/or color-coordinated stickers
